The Bothwell SPINin 2007 Draft Program
|
| PROGRAM THEME |
JAMMING:
Collaboration, Cooperation & Chance. The practices that
have evolved around cultural production affiliated with textiles are
often the outcomes of collaborative and cooperative effort and this
has been so throughout history. 'Jamming' is a term most often
associated with music making but it also has application in other areas.
This is particularly so at a community level. In the past it was often
the kind of thing that underpinned the social and cultural capital that
gave richness and meaning to community life. Collaboration and cooperation
also lead to innovation, the evolution of the new ideas and 'the unlikely'
all of which enrich communities and carry them forward. In
2007 The SPINin plans to celebrate the 'collaborative
idea' and use it to extend what is imagined might be possible.
Against
this background the concept of collaboration and cooperation will underpin
the structure and the form of program elements such as demonstrations,
workshops, performances etc. Furthermore, by focusing on collaboration
and cooperation it is envisaged that this will inject an element of
chance into the event and bring about outcomes that otherwise would
be improbable.
